Belmond Trains
Seven great luxury rail journeys, booked with Belmond Bellini benefits
Travel by Belmond
Belmond's trains are a journey in themselves, where the route, the cabin and the service on board matter as much as the destination.
Through ATraveller's Belmond Bellini partnership, I arrange Belmond overnight journeys and day trips, advising on the cabins and itineraries best suited to how you wish to travel.
I plan the journey around the train, from flights and pre- and post-journey stays to transfers and experiences on either side.

The Trains

Overnight
Venice Simplon-Orient-Express
The most famous luxury train in the world. It links London, Paris and Venice, among other European cities. The restored carriages are 1920s–30s Art Deco. The atmosphere is formal and ceremonial, and the journey is built around a sense of occasion rather than speed.

Day trips
British Pullman
The Orient-Express's sister train, running themed day journeys from London, from countryside lunches to cultural and culinary trips. It has the same Art Deco heritage feel, just shorter. It suits a special-occasion afternoon out.

Overnight
Britannic Explorer
A modern take on British rail travel through England and Wales. Interiors are lighter and more understated than the heritage trains. Dining focuses on seasonal British produce, and excursions lean towards culture, craft and landscape.

Overnight
Eastern & Oriental Express
Runs from Singapore through Malaysia's rainforest and historic towns. It mixes colonial-era romance with a relaxed feel. Cabins are intimate and the social spaces are lively, with excursions such as river trips and heritage cities.

Overnight
Royal Scotsman
Tours the Scottish Highlands and is one of the smallest luxury trains anywhere. It feels like a cosy country house on rails, with estate visits, loch-side walks and an observation car. It's the most intimate and personal option on the list.

Day trip
Hiram Bingham
Runs between Cusco and Machu Picchu, turning the transfer into part of the experience. It has vintage-style carriages, an open-air observation platform and live local music. The dining is polished but warm.

Overnight
Andean Explorer
Crosses the high Peruvian Andes between Cusco, Lake Titicaca and Arequipa. The carriages are contemporary, using local materials, with panoramic observation areas. The landscape is the main event, with curated off-train excursions during the day.
